Preparing for College is designed to help students begin to think about and prepare for post-secondary studies.  Divided into 14 lessons, it takes students on a journey, from considering the benefits of a college education and career choice to paying for college, selecting a college, planning college visits, writing a college essay and resume, preparing a college application, and being ready for a college interview. The lessons include helpful web links and activities as well as useful vocabulary words.  Students are encouraged to keep journals and to take notes as they progress through the lessons, highlighting questions for a teacher or mentor or for students’ further research.  A unit test as well as a narrated PowerPoint for use by both instructors and students is also available. Preparing for College was developed by the National PASS Center in collaboration with the Illinois Migrant Education Resource Project.
